APRS is a packet radio system used in Amateur radio that can be used to broadcast position, weather and small text messages.

APRS-IS

APRS-IS is the APRS Internet System. It is a system that relays APRS messages over the internet.

Reading the firehose

Connect to the APRS-IS server, send user 0 pass -1\n to authenticate as a guest. And then data will start flooding, read line by line.

You will want to occasionally send ping\n to keep the connection open.
