Ladybird Browser

Reading time: less than 1 minute

Ladybird (formerly Serenity Browser) is the web browser that is developed for and bundled with Serenity OS. The actual browser application is a thin wrapper around LibWeb, their layout engine.

As with the rest of the system, Ladybird and LibWeb also have video archives of their development on YouTube.

History

While the browser was initially only available for Serenity OS, it has since become cross-platform and is now available for Linux and macOS as well.

There are also Android builds, but they are not considered stable yet.

In the past, the browser was called Serenity Browser. However, it was renamed to Ladybird.

Forking from Serenity

They’ve completely separated from Serenity OS and became an independent project.
