What is Saltybet?

Saltybet is a website that hosts a livestream of 2D-style fights of AI players. It lets people bet on those tournaments using virtual / fake money.

The fights are done inside the Mugen engine.

Problem

The problem is simple. We would like increase our chances of winning as much as possible. This can be done by spending a lot of time watching the stream and getting familiar with each character, but we would like to avoid sinking too much unproductive time into this.

This is an interesting problem, and I think it will be fun to automate it. The possibilities range from simple statistics to display on the website to full automation that plays in the background.

Gathering data

It is possible to automatically fetch data on the current fights from the website. The current state can be found on http://www.saltybet.com/state.json.
